Web Course – Food Safety Issues in the Event of Disasters: An Introduction

Overview

This web-based course will make participants aware of the different types of natural and man-made disasters and their potential food safety impact.   This course will introduce key concepts that are relevant for environmental health specialists and other food regulatory officials to support their role in addressing food safety issues during the planning, preparedness, response and recovery phases of a disaster.

Cost

The cost for this web course is $100.00 or you can choose three (3) courses for $250.00.

Scope

This course will introduce terminology and critical food safety issues associated with disasters.  This course will be a prerequisite for the instructor led course: Food Safety Issues in the Event of Disasters: Practical Application.

Target Audience

The intended audience would include local, state, tribal, and territorial environmental health specialists and other food regulatory officials.

Prerequisites

Participants should be familiar with the most current FDA Food Code.

Course Progression

Each module should take 1 hour to complete and may be completed at the participant’s own pace.  Participants must complete all 3 modules before taking the course post-test.

This self-paced course will be delivered using PowerPoint-style presentations designed by content experts, video scenarios for participant review, interactive activities in each module and other resources for participants to review. 

A multiple-choice post-test will be administered at the end of module 3. A minimum score of 70% is required for passing and to permit participants to download the completion certificate.
