Overview
The purpose of this performance level course is to provide tribal nations with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to effectively detect, respond to, and mitigate a disease outbreak, using a whole community approach. This course will include a practical exercise that will be designed specifically to meet the needs of the tribal communities.
Scope
The course will address the unique challenges that tribal nations face in responding to a disease outbreak and will focus on a zoonotic disease interaction with an emphasis on livestock, poultry and wildlife.
Target Audience
The target audience will be tribal nation representatives and other support officials from emergency management, public health, law enforcement, fire, cooperative extension, medical services, environmental health, veterinarians, and animal health officials.

Prerequisites
Suggested prerequisite courses include Introduction to Incident Command System, ICS-100 (IS-100.B) and National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction (IS-700.A) from FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute.

Length
The instructor led course will be two days in length (16 hours) and will be developed at the performance level.
