Participants will gain background information and knowledge of methods to identify risk-based contributing factors and environmental antecedents (root causes) of a produce farm, and sprout operation contamination event (positive samples, outbreaks).

Scope
The course is a self-paced, web-based course. During this course, participants will gain background information and knowledge of methods to identify risk-based contributing factors and environmental antecedents (root causes) of a produce farm and sprout operation contamination event (positive samples, outbreaks). They will define agency roles for investigating produce farm and sprout operations, collecting samples, and evaluating produce farm and sprout operation records. Participants will understand how to provide technical assistance, educate operators, and apply regulatory requirements. At the conclusion of this course, participants will gain the necessary background information and knowledge to conduct a produce farm and sprout operation investigation.
Target Audience
The target audience for this course is for Federal, state, local, tribal and territorial regulatory agency food protection professionals who promote and assess compliance with U.S. laws and regulations related to operations that grow, harvest, pack, and hold sprouts intended for human consumption, and who may initiate regulatory action to gain compliance.
Course Progression
The entire course should take about 5 hours to complete and may be completed at the participant’s own pace. Participants must complete the entire course before taking the course post-test.
This self-paced course will be delivered using PowerPoint-style presentations designed by content experts, video scenarios for participant review, interactive activities in each module and other resources for participants to review.
A multiple-choice post-test will be administered at the end of the course. The post-test will be available to participants who complete the entire course. A minimum score of 70% is required for passing and to permit participants to download the completion certificate.
